Assistant to the Head Tailor

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented seasoned Tailor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in high end alterations including both men’s and women’s apparel, suits, and formal wear. Experience in high end bridal is a plus. As an Assistant to the Head Tailor you will work closely with the Head Tailor and your coworkers. You will provide exceptional customer service to our clients, while delivering high-quality alterations and custom sewing.

Duties
- Perform alterations on various types of garments.
- Perform custom sewing based on client specifications and measurements.
- Operate sewing machines and other equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients and coworkers regarding their requests and preferences.
- Utilize basic math skills to take accurate measurements and calculate fabric requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and store front, ensuring all tools and materials are properly stored, and all client and work areas are clean and neat.
- Stay updated on current fashion trends and garment construction/ alteration techniques.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in tailoring or garment alterations is required.
- Strong skills in sewing, including proficiency with sewing machines.
- Basic math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Knowledge of garment construction techniques and fashion retail practices is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work is extremely important.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
