**Production Manager Role Description/Responsibilities
• Approximately 40% of time: Management and Development of Production Personnel
• Bi-weekly 1-1 meetings with the Shop Foreman and Graphic Artist, discussing production performance and providing guidance on improvement opportunities.
• Conduct bi-weekly small group meetings with all other production staff to address questions, discuss challenges, and provide support for their roles.
• Process bi-weekly production payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
• Oversee training and continuous improvement of production staff to maintain a high level of skill and efficiency.
• Recruit, interview, and hire production staff for roles pre-approved by Signatures' leadership.
• Ensure a smooth onboarding process for new hires, including orientation and training on company policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement labor planning and employee scheduling strategies to optimize production output and minimize overtime.
• Manage employee relations, resolving internal conflicts, preparing for employee absences, and assigning daily tasks.
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of production personnel, conducting annual reviews to identify areas for growth and development.
• Approximately 30% of time: Measure, Monitor, and Enhance Production Floor Performance Output
• Track and analyze production metrics, including number of decorations, missed shipments, machine output, scrap/yield, and other key indicators.
• Implement and enforce health and safety precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
• Create, update, and maintain documented standard operating procedures for all production processes related to shipping, receiving, and embroidery/print order processing.
• Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of production machinery, including but not limited to: embroidery machines, shipping equipment, heat presses, and specialty print equipment.
• Plan for machine downtime and minimize its impact on production output.
• Develop action items to address quality or output issues and maximize team performance in these areas, adhering to a 99% quality requirement at all times.
• Complete monthly inventory and maintain records of historical inventory counts in requested format.
• Perform a quarterly inventory audit and store audit records.
• Approximately 10% of time: Leadership Liaison and Strategic Goal Implementation
• Provide regular updates on floor capacity to Signatures' leadership team.
• Project overtime costs, gain leadership approval, and plan weekend workdays as needed.
• Present project proposals for efficiency enhancements, estimate and gain approval on budgets, report on timelines, and re-negotiate as necessary.
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings with leadership to understand the company's strategic plan pertaining to production and complete personal action items related to the execution of defined goals.
• Communicate across departments with appropriate contacts in written and verbal format as necessary.
• Provide updates on available resources, such as supplies and labor.
• Approximately 20% of time: Other Duties as Assigned
Core Competencies/Skills Required:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to create Pivot tables, use basic Excel formulas (i.e. V-lookup), filter, sort, and format data accurately and efficiently.
• Familiarity with computer-based systems and ability to quickly learn new software and technologies.
• Quick and accurate typing skills.
• Highly organized, self-sufficient, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage a fast-paced workload and prioritize multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external customers.
• Experience in a manufacturing facility, with a proven track record of successfully managing production operations and improving efficiency.
• Good multi-tasking and prioritization skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
• Spanish speaking preferred, but not required.
