Solutions Architect (Sales Engineer)
Location: Quad City area (with travel to client locations)
Contract: Contract to Hire
Compensation: $70 to $80 per hour
We are working exclusively with a leading IT services company to find a personable and consultative Solutions Architect (Sales Engineer). This role emphasizes engaging with prospective clients during the sales process—mapping out architectures, identifying resource needs, and discussing budgets.
This role requires a balanced blend of technical know-how and strong people skills, enabling you to both design high-level solutions and comfortably handle conversations about cost, timelines, and scope.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary technical liaison during pre-sales engagements, collaborating with customers to identify their needs.
- Develop project scopes, outlining the architecture, hardware requirements, labor components, and implementation steps for networks or servers.
- Communicate clearly with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring everyone understands the proposed solutions and their ROI.
- Occasionally assist with project delivery to maintain consistency between the proposed design and the final implementation.
- Stay comfortable discussing budgets, timelines, and resource planning.
Requirements:
- Experience in networking and server infrastructure (solid mid-level skills rather than Tier 3 specialization).
- Proven ability to translate customer requirements into actionable project plans.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills—enjoys working with clients and explaining solutions in plain language.
- Willingness to talk through costs, set realistic timelines, and clarify project scope.
- Pre-sales or solutions architecture experience is highly beneficial.
