Position Summary :
The Purchasing Agent will play a crucial role in supporting the construction team in delivering high-quality homes across multiple communities. This position involves generating, updating, and maintaining purchase orders, processing payroll invoices related to materials, and providing timely updates to construction managers and suppliers. The primary focus of the role will be assisting construction managers with the start-up phases of new homes, ensuring purchase orders are accurate, and addressing various purchasing needs. The Purchasing Agent will report directly to the Vice President of Operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage the purchasing process for new home starts in communities throughout the greater Houston area.
- Generate purchase orders for new home builds and any associated selection updates.
- Collaborate with construction managers, estimators, and other team members to anticipate material needs and adjust purchase schedules to ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Approve and send out variance purchase orders promptly.
- Update new home start details in the Newstar operating system.
- Maintain accurate records of all purchase orders, invoices, and deliveries, while preparing regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and inventory levels.
- Assist with updating purchase orders and entering specific payroll invoices into the system.
- Monitor material costs, identifying opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining quality standards.
- Coordinate stage moves as directed by the construction managers.
- Provide support for various ad hoc purchasing duties as needed.
