POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Staff Accountant will aid with the accounting function for the Commercial and Residential business units at the Signorelli Company. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following: Preparing accurate and timely journal entries, reconciling monthly balance sheet accounts, assisting in the updating of financial reports, and the creation of monthly billings related to both external counterparties and affiliated entities.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare journal entries, with sufficient documentation, to ensure timely and accurate accounting within the monthly accounting cycle.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other financial information for various entities for internal and external purposes, as well as other reporting requirements as requested.
- Maintains the integrity of the general ledger by reconciling various balance sheet accounts within the prescribed timeframe established by the organization.
- Reconciles various operational cash accounts throughout the month, ensuring all related bank activity is properly accounted for.
- Codes various operation-related invoices and compares to budget to ensure accuracy.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Verifies and enters accounts receivable invoices for commercial overhead entity and manages aging report.
- Uploads trial balances from third-party-managed entities to our internal accounting system.
- Assists in researching and resolving accounting discrepancies from third-party accounting records.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Assists in the filing of tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies, as requested.
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience required; public accounting experience or real estate experience highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, computer and writing skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
