What are the responsibilities and job description for the X-ray Fluorescence Scientist/Physicist position at Sigray Inc.?
Sigray, Inc. has an immediate need for a scientist with expertise in x-ray fluorescence (XRF) to join our scientific team, working on the x-ray fluorescence product line. An XRF scientist would help drive the development of workflows for data analysis and assist with the development of in-house software to implement said workflows. Other responsibilities will include operating the instrument to collect data for research and development and running customer demos to showcase the instrument analysis capabilities. An XRF scientist would work with engineers from mechanical and software teams to bring the system to its full scientific capabilities. The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have strong initiative and drive to develop turnkey workflows for our diverse customer base
- Drive R&D projects for new ways to use XRF for quantification based on the unique capabilities of the AttoMap micro-XRF tool
- Be detail-oriented and diligent in documenting workflows as the product is developed
- Be comfortable communicating with customers to determine their analysis needs
Skills:
- A deep understanding of X-ray fluorescence; including experience with
- Fundamental parameters model
- Laboratory X-ray source modeling
- Peak and background fitting strategies
- Spectral decomposition methods
- Calibration with X-ray standards and intensity normalization
- Comfort with coding in Python
- Able to work independently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in a team environment
- Excellent experimental design skills
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Ability to multitask and set priorities according to current demands
- Ability to deliver solutions under tight deadlines
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering required (Physics or Materials Science)
- Work experience/Master’s/Ph.D. is a plus
- Willingness to occasionally travel domestically and internationally to assist with applications training is a plus
Additional Skills of Interest
- Familiarity or experience with X-ray systems
- Experience with automation is a plus
- Understanding of semiconductor industry needs is a plus
