Position Overview:
Silco is seeking a driven, safety-focused Access Control Technician to join our Columbus team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gate operators, access control systems, and related low-voltage components. This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for someone with mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting, variety, and working independently.

Compensation is determined by experience, tenure, and productivity. Silco provides weekly pay.

Silco is seeking a driven, safety-focused Access Control Technician to join our Columbus team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing gate operators, access control systems, and related low-voltage components. This is a hands-on, field-based position ideal for someone with mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting, variety, and working independently.
Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair gate operators, access control systems, and associated hardware.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues with systems and components (e.g., control boards, sensors, card readers, keypads).
- Run and repair underground wiring and conduit for system connectivity.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Ensure all work complies with safety codes, OSHA regulations, and UL 325 standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory and expenses per company guidelines.
- Provide responsive, professional customer service and build strong client relationships.
- Travel to job sites and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with or interest in low voltage systems, gate automation, and access control technology.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in outdoor environments.
- Comfortable using power tools, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Previous experience in gate automation, low-voltage wiring, or access control installation.
- Familiarity with card readers, intercom systems, phone entry, cameras, and barcode readers.
- Understanding of PLC systems and ability to read complex schematics.
- Welding/fabrication skills and/or general construction experience.
