What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Protection System Trainee position at Silco Fire & Security?
Job Description-
Fire Protection System Trainees will undergo 6-12 months of training in order to obtain multiple OHIO state licenses, gain adequate hands-on field knowledge, and learn the Silco Family culture. Trainees will attend hands-on manufacture training both in person and virtual, work alongside field technicians, and complete study material for state licensing. Fire Protection Systems Technicians must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment. Job responsibilities include reoccurring code inspections, responding to service calls, maintenance, and new equipment installs. 3-4 weeks a year on-call responsibility for afterhours 24/7 emergencies. Technicians must be able to use a tablet to complete paperwork, record deficiencies, and clearly and proficiently explain deficiencies or issues found on fire protection systems to customers. Technicians must also be able to work on jobs alone or in a team environment. Equipment serviced includes sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, fire pumps, standpipes, hydrants, underground mains, suppression systems, and more.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Technical and mechanical knowledge, aptitude, and interest
- Successfully passing state certification exams in expected timeframes
- Desire to learn and master new fire systems
- Excellent communications skills
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
- High school diploma or GED with 2 years mechanical or electrical experience or technical training
- Valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report
- Ability to lift heavy items periodically
- Successfully passing a pre-employment drug screening and background check
Compensation-
Compensation is based on experience. Silco has annual compensation raises and bonuses based on merit.
Base Salary- $38,000 to $45,000 while in training. Once training is complete and job title changes to Technician, monthly bonuses are available for meeting department requirements. Will discuss pay structure in interview.
