- Manage multiple metal food packaging projects through the entire project lifecycle, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Oversee cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative metal food container designs that create value for customers.
- Leverage your food packaging technical expertise in:
- Research and design of new container solutions.
- Evaluation, testing, and troubleshooting of existing designs.
- Process improvement and material innovation.
- Coordinate with Silgan’s internal groups, manufacturing facilities, and external resources to facilitate trials, create prototypes, and optimize packaging performance.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation while maintaining comprehensive documentation and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Assist in performing risk management to minimize project risks.
- Learning and developing with a can do, will do attitude defines your style.
- Traveling for work intrigues you – you can expect up to 50 percent travel the first year, travel will decrease to 30-40 percent after that.
- Enjoy being part of a team that designs, tests, and implements new metal container packages.
- A degree in Packaging, Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong mechanical abilities and an interest in container design, testing, and implementation.
- Proven experience managing complex projects, ideally with budgets exceeding $1MM.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to innovate with material properties and packaging techniques.
- Demonstrated skills in producing prototypes using internal and external materials.
- Strong communication skills to produce case studies, technical reports, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

- Silgan Containers is rethinking how to make the metal food can through increased recycled content, modern process overhauls, renewable energy procurement, and other innovative practices.
