Job Summary :
A leading homebuilder is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant . This position will play a critical role in maintaining financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting, preferably within the homebuilding or real estate industry, land development, and a strong understanding of general accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reports.
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow transactions.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor invoice management and customer payments.
Assist with job costing, budget tracking, and variance analysis for construction projects.
Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accruals.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal financial policies.
Support external auditors during audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
Qualifications & Skills :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3 years of accounting experience, preferably in homebuilding, construction, or real estate.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and GAAP.
Experience with accounting software such as industry-specific ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Knowledge of job costing and construction accounting is a plus.
