Sales Manager – California Territory (Organic Dairy Products)
Our client, a family-owned dairy based in Sonoma County, is renowned for its artisanal yogurts and cheeses distributed nationwide. We are seeking a highly motivated Sales Manager to oversee the California Territory, focusing on growing and managing relationships with grocery stores, brokers, and natural food retailers. This role requires a self-starter who thrives on new challenges and has a passion for health-conscious and artisanal foods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with regional chains, independent stores, and natural grocery outlets.
- Execute strategic sales plans to expand distribution and increase sales volume.
- Sell new product lines, manage promotions, and optimize merchandising strategies.
- Conduct regular in-person and virtual retailer visits to identify growth opportunities.
- Travel up to 50% of the time across Northern and Southern California, including major metro areas, from San Diego to Ukiah.
- Represent the brand at in-store demos, tradeshows, and customer education events.
- Collaborate with internal teams and brokers to drive regional sales initiatives.
- Maintain detailed records of account activity, reporting progress regularly.
- Submit weekly travel reports and mileage logs.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- 2 years of experience in natural, organic, or specialty food sales with proven territory management skills.
- Experience in dairy and/or specialty food products is highly preferred.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple accounts and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs.
- Must be based in the San Francisco or Los Angeles metro area.
- Must have a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to other states for 1–4 days at a time.
This role reports to the Vice President of Sales.
