Qualifications : Must hold proper Arkansas teacher certification -Instrumental Music Education (6-12)
Reports to : Assistant Principal / Director of Bands
Terms of Employment : 205 days with benefits according to Siloam Springs School

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Collaborate with the district Director of Bands to establish curriculum and philosophy that ensures the success and encouragement of all students in the band program
- Conduct Middle School Concert Band (one of three ability-based ensembles)
- Team teach 7th grade band classes
- Teach two beginning band classes at the Intermediate School
- Assist with all aspects of High School Band
- Attend all performances, events, and after-school rehearsals as assigned by the district Director of Bands
- Collaborate with other band directors / teachers in professional learning communities
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create positive educational climate for students
- Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures
- Communicate with parents / guardians regarding student progress
- Effectively implement district initiatives
- Refer students for alternative services as provided by the district (ESL, Special Education, G / T, etc)
- Participate in curriculum review and design
- Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
