Position Title: Accounting Clerk
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Terms of Employment: 12-month employment (240 days) with benefits
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related role.
- Experience in a school district is a plus.
- Experience with credit card programs and/or expense management systems is also a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process vendor invoices for payment.
- Review invoices for accuracy, appropriate approvals, and compliance with district policies.
- Prepare and issue payments via checks, ACH transfers, or electronic funds transfers.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist with 1099 preparation.
- Reconcile district purchase card transactions on a weekly basis by reviewing statements and matching them to receipts, invoices, and internal records.
- Collaborate with departments to obtain missing documentation or clarify transaction details.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all purchase card transactions and reconciliations.
- Scanning certain documents weekly and importing them into the accounting system.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
