POSITION TITLE: Allen Elementary School Counselor, Grades 1-2
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of
Education
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or other Supervisor
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Serve as a leader in the school and community to advocate and support student success.
- Assist students in academic achievement, introduction to careers and personal/social development.
Provide individual counseling, group counseling and classroom guidance lessons.
Work with staff to promote an understanding of human development theories and developmental issues affecting student success.
Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, community members and other stakeholders to promote and support student success.
- Develop and utilize materials and instructional strategies to meet students’ needs and school goals.
Refer families to appropriate community agencies and assist with finding resources as needed.
Analyze data to determine program effectiveness and identify program needs.
- Promote the district’s and school’s vision and mission.
Keep accurate record of all counseling and guidance activities.
Inform administration of various students’ needs.
Collaborate with other building counselors regarding student needs.
Protect the confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with state laws and Board policies.
