What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2024-2025 Child Nutrition Coordinator position at Silsbee ISD?
Primary Purpose:
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to multiple child nutrition programs. This role oversees all aspects of the child nutrition operation as outlined in the FSMC contract, coordinating business and reporting activities according to State and Federal guidelines. This role will serve as the liaison between the Food Service Management Company (FSMC) and the district, working closely with the FSMC to ensure the efficient and successful operation of the child nutrition program.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in a nutrition specific or related major OR
Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least two(2) years of relevant school nutrition experience OR
Associate’s degree in a nutrition specific or related major and at least two (2) years of relevant school nutrition experience
ServeSafe Certification is required.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Strong knowledge of USDA and TDA regulations and child nutrition guidelines.
Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, databases, and word processing.
Proficient computer skills and file maintenance.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work with numbers accurately and rapidly.
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams, including school administrators, parents, and external contractors.
Self-motivated and directed, innovative, and able to perform efficiently with minimal supervision
Knowledge of Skyward Software (preferred).
Physical Demands:
Ability to visit school campuses and meal service areas.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in food service operations, food preparation, kitchen
management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
School District food service manager experience (preferred).
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work closely with the district and Food Service Management Company to keep all parties informed.
- Utilize the POS system to perform updates and generate reports.
- Enter requisitions/purchase orders for District food service expenses
- Enter and monitor IT and maintenance work orders for needed repairs. (as needed)
- Record and track equipment and technology repairs and replacements.
- Record and update the list of food service fixed assets.
- Receive incoming calls, greet visitors, answer questions, and direct calls to the proper party.
- Stay updated with changes to TDA, USDA, EDGAR, and other state/federal rules and regulations.
- Enter and monitor IT and maintenance work orders for needed repairs. (as needed)
- Record and track equipment and technology repairs and replacements.
- Record and update the list of food service fixed assets.
- Receive incoming calls, greet visitors, answer questions, and direct calls to the proper party.
- Stay updated with changes to TDA, USDA, EDGAR, and other state/federal rules and regulations related to child nutrition programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Program Oversight and Compliance
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to child nutrition programs, including, but not limited to, USDA guidelines, the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and the School Breakfast Program (SBP).
- Process, verify, and upload all free/reduced student meal applications.
- Complete onsite monitoring forms for all campuses and feeding programs.
- Ensure accurate filing and maintenance of food service records and documentation to comply with federal and state audit and reporting requirements.
- Adhere to all procurement procedures outlined by TDA when utilizing 240 funds.
- Analyze and submit monthly reimbursement claims for all federal and state-funded food programs.
- Monitor the food service operation by conducting reviews once a semester to ensure compliance with the FSMC contract.
- Responsible for maintaining and tracking all CN office staff, CN Managers, Assistant Managers, and Food Service Workers meet all professional development training hours as mandated by USDA and for administrative review prior to the end of the school year.
- Complete state and federal child nutrition program applications and compliance reports.
- Assist with the district financial and TDA Audits. (as needed)
- Assist on campuses (as needed)
Finance
- Reconcile cash daily (POS reports compared to bank deposits)
- Ensure all federal, state and local CN receivables are received and posted to Fund 240.
- Disburse and collect cafeteria change funds as needed.
- Collaborate with the Business Services team to prepare financial projections

Salary : $54,240 - $76,840
