Job Description:
The Line Mechanic is a vital member of our Alaskan processing facility, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing Iron Butcher processing machinery and other fish processing equipment. This includes troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, and conducting repairs as needed to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Essential Functions:
This role requires onsite presence at our Alaska Processing Facility, and the ability to travel, spending a significant amount of time during the season at our various locations and processing facilities in Alaska.
The Line Mechanic is a vital member of our Alaskan processing facility, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing Iron Butcher processing machinery and other fish processing equipment. This includes troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, and conducting repairs as needed to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain, adjust, and repair Iron Butcher and similar heading and gutting machines to achieve maximum recovery and quality.
- Rebuild and maintain pumps, motors, fans, and various equipment.
- Build, maintain, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic system components.
- Weld and fabricate aluminum and stainless.
- Work in a safe manner and take action to correct or report safety hazards to the Safety Manager or Chief Engineer.
- Recognize operator errors and correct their behavior in a constructive manner.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all production line equipment, including conveyors, processing machines, packaging equipment, and refrigeration units.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and other metalworking tasks as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Work effectively as part of a team to maintain production efficiency.
- Deep understanding of mechanical systems, components, and tools.
- Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of processing equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems used in processing machinery.
- Ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed.
- Adherence to safety regulations and procedures, especially when working with heavy machinery and sharp tools.
