What are the responsibilities and job description for the Moss Landing, CA - Seasonal Day Labor Seafood Processor (Staffing Agency) position at Silver Bay Seafoods?
IMPORTANT NOTICE: This position is offered through our staffing agency partner and requires you to reside near Moss Landing, California. You will NOT be employed by Silver Bay Seafoods. You will be employed by our staffing agency partner.
Processors can be assigned to various positions within the production department including, but not limited to, Quality, sorting, staffing, forklift, case-up, freezer, dock crew, and offload crew. Processors are also required to participate in plant clean-up and other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
This position is a DAY LABOR position which will require ability to accept work daily via text messaging. There is no guarantee on hours or days working. This is seasonal as needed.
Essential Functions & Qualifications:
- Regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Sort, pack, and weigh seafood products.
- Handle raw materials, place them on belts, and sort products according to grade, color, and size.
- Discard substandard items and foreign objects.
- Pack products for storage or shipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Assist in plant cleanup.
- Punctuality and reliability are essential.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) is required for some positions.
- Visually identify defects in seafood products.
Education & Experience:
- Previous experience in the seafood industry is a plus but not required. We welcome applicants with no prior experience or training.
Work Environment & Schedule:
- Work up to 16 hours per day, with breaks 4 or more hours apart.
- Work up to 6 days per week.
- Perform tasks in cold and wet environments.
- Stand for long periods, make repetitive motions, and engage in physical activities such as climbing stairs, twisting, bending, and occasionally sitting or crouching.
- Work efficiently in a team and maintain focus throughout the shift.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands and arms for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be capable of lifting/moving up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Specific vision abilities required include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Must live within proximity to our local facilities and be able to travel independently.
Mental Demands:
- Frequent use of interpersonal and customer service skills.
