What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rolling Stock Mechanic position at Silver Bay Seafoods?
As the Rolling Stock Mechanic, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of rolling stock, such as Flatbeds, Forklifts, and company vehicles. You will be responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting any mechanical and electrical problems, performing routine maintenance tasks, and ensuring the safety and reliability of rolling stock equipment. Your expertise in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues will be essential in keeping our equipment operational and minimizing downtime.
Essential Functions / Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following :
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on a variety of rolling stock, including flatbeds, forklifts, and company vehicles.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, utilizing your in-depth knowledge of rolling stock systems.
- Ensure adherence to all State and Federal regulations pertaining to rolling stock maintenance.
- Efficiently track all parts and inventory control for all facility vehicles.
- Ensure all State and Federal regulations are met.
- Maintain accurate records of daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of rolling stock.
- Keep a well-organized and maintained workspace to enhance efficiency and safety.
- Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and / or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities, and the ability to travel, including at times to remote locations.

While performing the essential function and job duties associated with the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
