Job Title: Medical Assistant
Patient Care
· Scrubs the chart prior to the patient coming for their visit for any open health maintenance items, open referrals, gaps in care or needed immunizations.
· Closes health maintenance items as notes, external notifications are received.
· Updates care team members when patient notifies the office of outside specialists.
· Huddles with the provider prior to patient arrival to discuss any patient concerns (new medication requests, recent ER or hospital discharge)
· Rooms patients upon their arrival
· Accurately records all vital and growth charts.
· Repeats elevated Blood Pressures
· Enters orders for necessary Health maintenance items that were noticed during the scrubbing process and pends them for provider review and signature.
· Reviews all open orders for completion, and notifies the provider prior to the visit of any open orders.
· Reviews open referrals to verify completion with the patient and notifies the provider of any open referrals.
· Prepares and administers medications/immunizations as directed.
· Completes medication reconciliation
· Enters the preferred pharmacy and enters refills as requested.
· Completes appropriate tests (EKG)
· Performs phlebotomy and lab test in accordance with regulations.
· Provides accurate screenings when indicated.
· Notifies the provider in a timely manner that the patient is ready to be seen.
· Notifies the provider of abnormal vitals, update to medication via the med rec process, and chief complaint of the patient.
· Adequately assists the provider with Medicare Annual Wellness Visits.
· Encourages the sign up of, and use of MyLegacy.
Triage
· Triages patients via telephone calls and documents via clinical message. Can adequately communicate urgency of patient issue to provider
· Reviews my chart messages to the provider and will confer with the provider about necessary response to the patient.
· Receives refill messages via telephone call and my chart and XX (then what?)
General
· Keeps rooms well stocked
· Prepares rooms prior to each visit with appropriate supplies (cervical screening, procedures, etc).
· Keeps rooms cleaned and wiped down between each patient and at the beginning and the end of each day.
· Adheres to patient care policies related to PPE
· Reviews medications monthly to ensure medications are not expired, and about to expire within the next month.
Quality Control and Sterilization
· Run POC tests
o EKG
o Spirometry
· Clean instruments, wrap and autoclave them.
· Conduct quality control testing on all necessary equipment.
o CBC, Lipid, A1C, Rapid Strep, Flu and Covid

· Communicates with patients in a friendly and confident tone with an introduction of name and care team role.
· Complies with HIPAA/office policies
· Treats patients with respect and dignity
· Communicates with colleagues in a respectful, open and direct manner

· Courteous with patients
· Communicates with co-workers about breaks, lunch and leaving for the day

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
