Job Summary: Special Education Intensive Intervention Teacher
Qualifications:
- Preferably hold Bachelor’s Degree or higher in special education, licensure in Mild or intensive intervention.
- Preferably hold Indiana teaching license
- Substitute license required if not a licensed teacher.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assesses student needs; plans for, guides, and evaluates student learning; communicates student progress to students and parents (Special Education certification required).
- Demonstrate knowledge of special education laws and District policies and procedures. (Special Education certification required).
- Meet all local, state, and federal guidelines and timelines. (Special Education certification required).
- Write and Implement IEPs in accordance to the law and aligned to state content standards. (Special Education certification required).
- Maintains & monitors records of performance for all students who have IEPs.
- Facilitate case conferences to ensure compliance with local, state and federal requirements. (Special Education certification required).
- Collaborate with students, parents, and other team members to develop appropriate IEPs.
- Coordinate classroom experiences with the general education teacher and collaborate about modifications/accommodations of curriculum that target students' needs.
- For students who attend the general education classroom, meet with the teachers to obtain information about student performance, as appropriate for each student. (Special Education certification required).
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. (Special Education certification required).
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement and goals addressed in the IEP.
- Provide data driven progress reports to parents/guardians at least each 9 week reporting period. (Special Education certification required)
- Supervise, train, coordinate, and monitor paraprofessionals in their responsibilities and duties.
- Collaborate with students, parents, and other staff, as needed, to develop appropriate IEPs.
- Create a respectful classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Provide hygiene assistance/care, feeding assistance, and any other medical or personal assistance needed or required, as trained.
- Attend all required professional development activities and meetings.
- Demonstrate high standards of professionalism and ethics.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Maintain punctual and regular attendance.
- Communicate effectively with administration, staff, and parents.
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal or his/her designee.
