Position Summary : The Clinical Educator is a registered professional who demonstrates expertise in a specific area of clinical practice. Provides educational services to include orientation, onboarding new employees, continuing education, and competency validation. Facilitates quality activities based on identified needs to enhance excellence in clinical practice. Prioritizes these activities in accordance with patient, staff and organizational strategic initiatives. Maintains standards of professional clinical practices. The scope of practice encompasses the use of the processes in major areas : practice, education, consultation, and administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Develops, facilitates, coordinates and evaluates orientation and ongoing competency within the patient care division.
Collaborates with appropriate resources for all educational activities, programs and needs within the patient care division.
Assesses learning needs and develops, implements, facilitates, and evaluates educational activities of the patient care division.
Supports training and educational sessions related to preventing hospital-acquired infections including hand hygiene.
Serves as a clinical resource for employees and select patient populations.
Participates in development, implementation and analysis of care delivery standards and outcomes.
Promotes compliance to quality and safety standards, and regulatory requirements in improving organizational performance.
Serves as liaison for student clinical rotations.
Assesses professional practice gaps, identifies needs that can be addressed through education, creates a planning committee, develops a program based on best available evidence, implements, and evaluates the program.
Implements process for identification, mitigation, and disclosure of relevant financial relationships for all with the ability to control the content of the activity.
Creates and evaluates measurable outcomes that address educational needs (knowledge, skills and / or practice) that contribute to the professional gap and achieve the outcome for closing the gap.
Functions as a content expert as appropriate.
Promotes a clean and safe environment of care, utilizing the SAFE – Support Each Other, Ask Questions, Focus on Details, Explain Clearly - error prevention habits.
Provides the highest standard of privacy and confidentiality in matters involving patients, coworkers, and the hospital by abiding by the Standards of Conduct.
