Summary: As a Safety Lead for Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO you will have the chance to interact with thousands of employees and guests each day, ensuring their safety as they enjoy the 1880s themed rides and attractions. You will perform the duties of the SIC “Safety in Charge”, conduct monthly safety audits, fire extinguisher and hood vent inspections/audits, inspect buildings/structures, oversee and mentor the work procedures of the gate officers, and provide EMS assistance as needed. These are just a few of the important duties this position will perform to create a safe and secure environment for guests and employees.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead direct report(s) who supervise employees in the area of our entrance gates; responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this area. Carries out lead responsibilities in accordance with HFE's policies and applicable federal and state laws. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor gate officer.
  • Interviewing staff.
  • Training and coaching staff.
  • Motivating and inspiring teams.
  • Appraising and rewarding employees.
  • Work through leadership staff to ensure department goals and standards are met.
  • Ensuring staff adherence to Park policies and procedures, proper hospitality procedures, and safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned to assist the Safety team.

  • Perform all SIC “Safety in Charge” duties, responsibilities, and functions.
  • Complete monthly audits in accordance with our procedures.
  • Provide support to ensure safe operation of cash handling facilities
  • Provide the appropriate response in the event the property is faced with an active shooter incident
  • Maintain firearms log
  • Ensuring staff adherence to Park policies and procedures, proper hospitality procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Oversee and mentor all gate officers.
  • Effectively plan, organize, communicate and implement all safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Workers Compensation, ADA Regulations and Life Safety Code.
  • Resolve guest complaints when necessary.
  • Participate in biweekly FAMS meetings.
  • Conduct injury and incident investigations and take corrective actions when needed to ensure guest and host safety.
  • Distribute, coordinate and evaluate the Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Coordinate the inspections of fire extinguishers, restaurant hood systems, sprinkler systems, security systems, food sanitation and all buildings on park.
  • Follow up on and mitigate any potential safety hazards called in by employees in all areas.
  • Audit all park operations for compliance with safety procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Inspect Special Events prior to public opening and ensure all safety issues are resolved.
  • Provide emergency response in conjunction with the Safety and PIC team when needed, and serve as SIC (Safety in Charge) regularly.
  • Complete other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must understand, read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and long hours as needed.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to converse appropriately with employees and guests.
  • Must possess a strong teamwork ethic.
  • Must be able to write reports with clear and concise wording.
  • Must have the highest standard of maintaining confidentiality
  • Must have experience with and be able to use equipment involved in testing items for code compliance.
  • Must be able to use safety equipment such as fire extinguisher, air sampling equipment, ladders, lights, etc.
  • Must be able to train and supervise.
  • Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal regulations
  • Valid Class E Missouri driver’s license or resident state equivalent
  • Must pass a background check
  • State POST certified (Peace Officer)
  • Armed shooter firearms training and qualification
  • Law Enforcement tactical training
  • 5 years’ experience in customer service, hospitality, or theme park industry preferred.
  • Must be able to attend safety seminars and related industry classes.

Education/Experience:

  • Ability to obtained a Missouri Law Enforcement Commission
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, Worker’s Compensation and ADA, Life Safety Code, NFPA and ASTM preferred or the ability to learn.
  • NAARSO and/or AIMS participation preferred.
  • Above average negotiation skills preferred.
  • Technical and mechanical knowledge of ride operations and maintenance preferred.
  • Previous computer experience including Excel, Word, Power Point, Access and Outlook required.
  • Must have and maintain a Missouri Class E Driver’s License or resident state equivalent.
  • Must maintain all licenses and registrations related to areas of responsibility.

Must be able to take directional cues directly and indirectly. Must not be afraid of heights.
