Overview:
Silver Fox Adult Day Centers provide engaging, compassionate care and socialization for seniors and adults with disabilities. We are seeking a dedicated Program Assistant with experience in dementia care to join our team. The Program Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring our members receive high-quality personal care, engaging activities, and support throughout their day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Care: Assist with personal care tasks such as dressing, toileting, and feeding, ensuring that members' dignity is maintained.
- Activity Facilitation: Lead and participate in recreational, cognitive, and physical activities that promote socialization and engagement, tailored to the needs and abilities of members.
- Meal Support: Assist with the serving of meals and snacks, ensuring dietary needs are met and mealtime is a pleasant experience for members.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in members' physical, emotional, or mental health to the Program Manager.
- Cleaning & Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized environment by cleaning activity areas, assisting with laundry, and ensuring overall hygiene and safety.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a smooth daily routine and positive atmosphere for members.
- Attendance & Punctuality: Adhere to a strict attendance policy, arriving on time and ready to work by 9 a.m.
- Adaptability: Handle unexpected situations with flexibility and maintain a calm demeanor during challenging moments.
- Member Interaction: Build positive, meaningful relationships with members, fostering trust and providing emotional support when needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in personal care or a similar caregiving role.
- Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, contribute to a supportive work environment, and assist wherever needed.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact with members, families, and colleagues effectively.
- Physical Ability: Ability to assist members with mobility and personal care, including lifting and transferring as needed. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- CPR Certification: Current certification in CPR or willingness to obtain.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as PCA, HHA or CNA
- Previous experience working in an adult day care setting.
- Knowledge of dementia care best practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
