The Senior IT Specialist is the point of contact for SHH staff with issues with hardware, software and network concerns. They ensure all technicians can install, service, troubleshoot and repair computers and related equipment, including software and assistance with network functions, as requested. The Senior IT Specialist works with the IT team to identify best practices and lessons learned in all areas.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Resolve user problems and ensure correct operation of computers systems and installations.
- Install software, software applications and hardware, while keeping abreast of current hardware and software updates.
- Able to troubleshoot critical issues, repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals advising on best methods of resolution or assisting in problem resolution with junior staff.
- Performs backup functions, administration, maintenance, and support of systems infrastructure, which includes support and integration of any applications systems including cloud-based solutions.
- Evaluates user needs, defines technical problems root causes, and works with engineering/development staff to determine solutions.
- Assist in the purchase and maintenance of equipment and ensure that communications are available.
- Coaching and mentoring junior staff and ensuring the standard equipment specifications if up to date.
- Interface with 3rd party vendors to support the telecommunications and server services.
- Act as leader for the technical support team as an escalation point for support.
- Work with IT teams to identify and document best practices and lessons learned.
- Regularly review and update knowledge management supporting the helpdesk ticketing system.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to occasionally work overnight shifts and weekends as needed on a team rotation schedule.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s in computer science, preferred
- CompTia A , Network , Security Certificate or similar IT certifications
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.Bottom of Form
- Strong IT background, including experience technical, and other knowledge management tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to stand, walk, and drive the cart across the campus in different weather conditions
