GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Packer and Food Delivery driver position plays a crucial role in the Nutrition and Food Pantry programs, ensuring the efficient preparation of nutritious meals and their safe and timely delivery to older adults. This position follows and upholds the requirements of Title III-C of the Older Americans Act and by Volume 10 of the Older Coloradoans Act.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in food packaging for the Meals on Wheels Program.
- Accurately record food temperatures and loss, adhering to food safety guidelines and regulatory standards to ensure compliance.
- Inspect quality of food to meet organizational standards.
- Safely load and unload food and supplies from delivery vehicles, and stock shelves, refrigerators, freezers, and warehouse areas in an organized manner.
- Deliver food and supplies to congregate sites or Meals on Wheels routes, maintaining delivery records, and reporting any discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff, volunteers, interns, and community members for efficient meal and supply delivery operations.
- Support special events by assisting with setup and cleanup tasks.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the kitchen, warehouse, and delivery operations.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and support volunteers and interns to coordinate and coach appropriate kitchen and warehouse safety standards.

DRIVING DUTIES
Will drive on behalf of Silver Key Senior Services. Must maintain a current, valid Colorado Driver's License. Must maintain the state issued minimum automotive liability insurance coverage. Must observe and obey all federal, state, and local traffic laws. Responsible for the proper function and maintenance of any Silver Key vehicles used in performing assigned duties.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Silver Key Senior Services is a drug-free organization. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen and background checks. Business-specific knowledge : Knowledge of Silver Key Senior Services mission statement, policies / procedures, business-specific software, and safety regulations. This position does require a background check by Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS).
REQUIRED EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
DESIRABLE, PREFERRED, OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
TECHNOLOGY PROFICIENCY
This position requires basic Office Software, Sanitation and Cleaning Technologies, Learning Management Systems, Communication Tools (Instant Messaging), Time and Attendance systems, Food Safety record keeping, Inventory Management Software, Point of Sale Systems / Kitchen Display systems.
This position will often require multi-tasking in the use of computer, phone, and office equipment while interacting with clients.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, mathematical abilities, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Proficiency in non-English languages is highly valued.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Utilization of hands and fingers to operate office computer keyboard (on occasion) and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Must be able to push or pull carts, pallet jacks and work in environments with varying temperatures such as freezers, walk-in coolers, and outdoor donation areas. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
VISION REQUIREMENTS
Position requires close, distance and peripheral vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Moderate noise within business office atmosphere with computers, printers, and light traffic. The duties of this position are performed in a kitchen or warehouse and client service pantry setting. This includes loading dock bays, refrigeration and freezer units, and dry storage areas. Travel within the community can be frequent for pick-ups. Travel out of town is infrequent.
