Job Title: General Staff for Silver Lake Camp and Retreat Center

Salary: $2000 stipend

Dates of Contract: June 14-August 20, 2025
Job Overview: As a General Staff Member, you will be an essential part of our camp community, helping create a positive and impactful experience for all campers. You will assist in various aspects of camp operations, including activity facilitation, camper supervision, and program and operations support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Camper Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Activity Facilitation: Lead and assist with a variety of camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, outdoor adventures, and team-building exercises.
- Program Support: Assist in the planning and execution of camp events, special programs, and daily schedules.
- Operations Support: Complete regular shifts in the kitchen, dish room, housekeeping and buildings and grounds maintenance.
- Role Modeling: Demonstrate and promote positive values through words and actions, serving as a role model for campers.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other staff members to create a cohesive and supportive camp environment.
- Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve camper conflicts in a respectful and constructive manner.
- Health and Safety: Follow all camp policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment for campers and staff.
Other Job Duties:
- Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning, and leading those as assigned.
- Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnight, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.
- Ability to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
- Ability to work for long periods of time without sitting.
- Ability to work outside in variable weather conditions.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the camp activities.
- Ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Age 18 or older by June 14.
- Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to changing situations.
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Lifeguard or High Ropes certifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check.
