Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a per diem Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Technician (LPN/EMT) to provide the safe operation of the HBOT chambers for our long-term acute care patients.
ABOUT SILVER LAKE HOSPITAL
Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.
POSITION SUMMARY
The HBOT Technician provides the safe operation of the HBOT chambers while monitoring patients during treatment per policy and proper protocol. This position does involve direct patient care for a population of patients between the ages of 18 and older and does require age specific experience, specialized training and/or expertise to serve this population.
POSITION QUALIFICATION
- Valid NJ state Licensed Practical Nurse or EMT Certification required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association required upon hire.
- Introductory Course in Hyperbaric Medicine certificate required upon hire.
- At least one (1) year of patient care experience in a hospital or LTACH setting is preferred.
- WCC or CWCA certification preferred.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills are required. Must possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and other staff members.
