Silver Lake Hospital of Newark, NJ is seeking to hire a full-time LTACH Biller to prepare, submit, and follow up on medical claims for patients, ensuring accurate billing practices.

Silver Lake Hospital is a long-term acute care hospital with a reputation of providing patients with a place to heal before heading home. A long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) is an acute care specialty hospital that provides highly advanced and focused care for higher acuity patients who have not responded to short-term treatment in traditional general hospitals. The average length of stay in an LTACH is 25 days as compared to a 3-5 day average stay in a general hospital. Our safe and state of the art hospital is designed to admit and care for the most critically ill patients.
POSITION SUMMARY
The LTACH Biller is responsible for preparing, submitting, and following up on medical claims for patients, ensuring accurate billing practices to maximize reimbursement from insurance companies like Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers, while adhering to all the healthcare regulations and coding guidelines; duties include verifying patient eligibility, coding diagnoses and procedures, submitting electronic claims, managing claim denials, and resolving billing discrepancies with insurance companies. This position includes but is not limited to the reconciliation of the initial billing and invoicing, reconciling payment and payment processes, performing collections and accounts receivable, ensuring all services rendered are accounted for and properly reconciled. This position maintains up-to-date health information and billing systems to ensure accurate and timely billing of hospital claims, and reviews charges for any discrepancies. Manages relations with payers to generate appropriate reimbursement rates and a low level of denials.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field required.
- At least (5) years of management-level experience in hospital revenue cycle with expertise in billing and collections.
- Experience in long-term acute care (LTACH) hospitals.
- Thorough knowledge of patient financial services (PFS) processes and standards related to billing, collections, and cash posting. General knowledge of patient registration, finance, and data processing.
- Knowledge of ZirMed (Clearing House) and HCS / Well Sky financial software.
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Superior communication skills with all levels of hospital staff, physicians, and patient sources.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on tasks without direct supervision.
- Proficient in computer systems, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
