What are the responsibilities and job description for the ESY Reading Specialist (Rules Based) position at Silver Lake Regional School District?
The Silver Lake Regional School District and Superintendency Union #31 districts are seeking multiple certified reading teachers to work in the Extended School Year (ESY) programs. Strong preference will be given to candidates fully trained in Orton-Gillingham and/or Wilson reading programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and/or small group direct reading instruction for identified students.
- Advise teachers regarding planning, implementation and assessment of specialized reading programs for students with substantial disabilities at elementary, middle and high school levels.
- Maintain data of student performance and complete data informed summary reports for all students at the end of the five week program.
- Develop and implement curriculum aligned with MA Frameworks and Common Core Standards.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Coordinate and develop a service schedule with the classroom ESY teachers for students working within the ESY day program.
- Coordinate and develop a service schedule with parents/guardians for students requiring only drop off services.

ESY Program Overview
- July 7, 2025 through August 7, 2025
- ESY programs serve students aged 3-22
- Days & times of services:
- Grades K-12 : Monday - Thursday, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm
- PreK: Students will have a two-day schedule of either Monday/Tuesday Wednesday/Thursday from 8:30 - 12:00 p.m.
- In addition to times outlined above, educators will be paid for an additional 90 minutes of planning time each day, which may occur on-site or off-site
- Data collection / progress monitoring collected weekly in regards to individualized education plans (IEPs)
