Job Description:
We are seeking a Substitute Custodian to join our team at Silver Lake Regional School District. This is an on-call, as-needed position that requires the individual to work temporarily in place of a full-time custodian.
The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to maintain a clean and safe environment for students and staff. They will be responsible for performing various tasks such as cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining facilities.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Keeping building and premises neat and clean
- Shoveling and/or sanding walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps
- May be required to plow if directed by the Head Custodian and/or Director of Facilities
- Checking exit doors and panic bolts during hours of building occupancy
- Raising and lowering the United States flag at appropriate times
- Sweeping classrooms daily
- Cleaning and dusting furniture, chalkboards, etc.
- Vacuuming rugs
- Cleaning corridors after school each day and during the day
- Scrubs, washing down, and disinfecting toilet floors daily
- Cleaning sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily
- Washing windows on both inside and outside
- Keeping entranceways free of rubbish and debris
Requirements:
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities
- Driver's license
- Prior experience as a school custodian or equivalent experience (preferred)
