We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Materials Planner! This role is based at our facility in Lawton, Oklahoma and reports to the Plant Manager.
Job Summary
As Materials Planner the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the receiving, handling, warehousing and inventory counts of raw materials. They will schedule, maintain, and work to improve safety, quality, and productivity around raw materials for the compound and extrusion departments.
Principal Responsibilities
- Maintains the raw material inventory levels for compounding and extrusion departments.
- Partner with Compound Plant Department to forecast inventory levels, coordinate orders/deliveries, and prevent material outages.
- Create and maintain a delivery schedule for purchased materials; receive materials against PO.
- Notify the plant manager of capacity shortages or excesses, anticipated back orders and/or disruption to expected service.
- Notify Production Manager and/or Scheduler of interruption in service that causes items to be out of stock due to man, machine or quality problems.
- Prepare reports to summarize raw material and regrind inventory levels and variance from standards.
- Record (backflush) daily compound (blended and purchased) production totals in system.
- Lead month-end inventory activities including variance investigation.
- Order and/or communicate ordering requirements for packaging supplies and initiate the proper receiving documentation upon arrival.
- Participate in daily production meetings to communicate current inventory levels and operating conditions.
- Maintain quality standards by complying with the Approved Compounds/Components List, Quality Control Manual, and ISO procedures.
- Receive and forward Safety Data Sheets to proper personnel.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing scheduling in a MRP Environment.
- Member of APICS. Preferably CPIM certification or currently working towards an APICS (CPIM or other) certification.
- A proven record of accomplishment in a continuous improvement manufacturing environment with ISO 9001.
- A basic working knowledge of blending raw materials and extrusion.
- Excellent written & verbal communication and problem solving skills.
- A strong working knowledge of computers using word processing and spreadsheets.
