Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and FUN Camp Counselor to join Silver Stables Riding Academy for an enriching summer camp experience! As a Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for the children who participate in our Horse and Pony Summer Camp. You will be responsible for leading activities, providing guidance, and ensuring the well-being of campers while fostering their personal growth and development. You will also be responsible for running un-mounted summer camp games and activities; helping campers engage with horses and stable chores; overseeing groups of 6-12 children at a time; coordinating daily activities with the Head Counselor; and overall fostering a SAFE and FUN atmosphere for young horseback riders!
Hours and Pay
Contracted at $30 per hour with paid breaks. Six weeks (plus one week of vacation) M-F. Weekends off. Schedule for the contract goes as follows:
June 16 - 20, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
June 23 - 27, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
June 30 - July 4, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
July 7 - July 11, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
July 21 - 25, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
July 28 - August 1, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Duties
- Supervise and engage with campers in various unmounted activities, ensuring their safety and enjoyment both around the horses, and out of the saddle.
- Provide first aid as needed and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
- Foster positive relationships with campers, CITs, staff, and horses, by encouraging teamwork, respect, kindness, and inclusivity.
- Assist in managing daily camp operations, including setting up activities, caring for the horses, and maintaining tidiness around the property.
- Communicate effectively with the Head Counselor regarding camper progress, daily activities, and any concerns that may arise.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess experience working with children in various settings such as daycare, babysitting, special education, or sports coaching. Skills in early childhood education and/or horseback riding are desirable, but not required! Previous camp experience is a plus but not required. A background in first aid is essential to ensure the safety of all campers. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a passion for educating and nurturing campers!
