What are the responsibilities and job description for the Locator position at Silver Star?
General Summary: Locators are responsible for marking existing outside plant (OSP) underground utilities per Wyoming and Idaho damage prevention statues. Utilities will include Copper and Fiber Optic cables. Locators will work with OSP Engineers and Mapping coordinator to assist in planning and cable maintenance activities.
Essential Job Functions / Certifications:
· Performs functions required to locate and mark buried utilities to protect infrastructure and ensure the OSP facilities remain operational.
· operates locating equipment for marking and identifying underground and related plant facilities.
· Knowledge and adherence to state underground facilities damage prevention laws and regulations.
· Installs and maintains bonding and grounding wires.
· Records and provides GPS data for locations of telephone/broadband facilities.
· Provides documentation of cut cables for enforcement of billing repairs and prepares damage reports
· Actively participates in the team environment that will foster forward thinking, innovation, and creativity to meet the needs of the company now and in the future.
· Understanding of Wyoming and Idaho damage prevention statues.
· Obtain Locating Utility Certification
· Be the face of Silver Star Communications, championing the company as a key player in the development of the local community.
· Performs field verification of existing facilities as needed to maintain accurate records.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
· High School Diploma plus 2 years of experience preferred.
· Ability to hold a valid Wyoming or Idaho Driver's License.
