What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mobile Fleet Mechanic position at Silver State Manufacturing?
Technicians will perform comprehensive bumper-to-bumper mechanical and maintenance services on a wide variety of trucks, vans, and diesel-powered vehicles. This position requires in-depth knowledge of both gas and diesel engine diagnostics and repair, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and maintenance of complex systems.
Key Responsibilities :
Perform routine and emergency repairs on diesel and gas engines, including but not limited to fuel systems, electrical systems, and exhaust systems.
Diagnose mechanical issues and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brake systems, suspension, and more.
Conduct preventative maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and system checks to ensure vehicle reliability.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools to assess engine performance and detect mechanical failures.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including starting, charging, and ignition circuits.
Service air conditioning systems, heating systems, and other vehicle subsystems.
Ensure compliance with industry safety standards and regulations while working in the field.
Qualifications :
High level of diagnostic and repair knowledge in both gas and diesel engines.
In-depth experience with advanced automotive systems, including fuel management, electrical, hydraulic, and exhaust systems.
Proficient in using diagnostic tools (OBD-II scanners, multimeters, and pressure gauges) and interpret results to perform accurate repairs.
Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair issues in a mobile setting with little supervision.
Familiarity with electronic control systems (ECU, PCM) and the ability to recalibrate or reprogram as needed.
Excellent mechanical aptitude, with a focus on diesel engines, and strong problem-solving skills.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals, technical service bulletins, and wiring diagrams.
Willingness to continuously learn and adapt to evolving automotive technologies.
Preferred Experience :
4 years of experience with diesel engine repair and maintenance.
ASE certification or equivalent in diesel technology is highly desirable.
Experience with medium and heavy-duty trucks is a plus.
Knowledge of DOT compliance and safety standards.
