Description:
The job of “Records and Attendance Clerk” is done for the purpose/s of, under the supervision of the site administrator perform complex clerical and statistical record-keeping duties related to the enrollment and maintenance of permanent school records; assure compliance with established rules, regulations, policies and procedures; register and withdraw new students, communicate information to parents/guardians.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the registration of new students; determine eligibility of enrollment; distribute, collect and review completed registration and assure accuracy and completeness of all forms; contact previous school to request required documents to complete registration process.
- Establish, maintain and review a variety of student records including cumulative records and demographic information; maintain confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information; process special requests by court subpoenas and law enforcement/probation agencies.
- Receive telephone calls and visitors, and provide information and assistance to students, parents, staff, receiving schools and the public regarding student attendance, enrollment and related policies and procedures.
- Maintains accurate period by period and/or daily absence records for the purpose of tracking student attendance. Prepare Short Term Independent Study contracts and maintain accurate records. Contact parents/guardians for the purpose of verifying excused and unexcused absences and other attendance related issues. Issues readmit slips and visitor passes for the purpose of controlling students and visitors entering and leaving school. Prepares reports, letters, and SARB referrals for the purpose of accurately tracking student attendance.
- Utilize assigned student information system to provide assistance to the site administrator with student scheduling as needed.
- Provide health assistance when assigned by the site administrator or required for the purpose of monitoring and maintaining appropriate levels of student health.
Essential Job Requirements-Qualifications:
- Experience Required:
Prior job related experience.
- Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills- Basic clerical functions; record keeping; correct English usage in both written and
verbal form, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; basic arithmetic calculations; and must be able to type 40 words per minute.
Knowledge- of modern office methods and practices, and the use of computers.
Abilities- to work independently, and understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Significant abilities include sitting for prolonged periods of time; reaching and/or handling; talking/hearing; and using near vision/depth perception. Ability to provide excellent customer service.
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing Required:
TB test; fingerprint clearance; typing test; CPR-First Aid Certification; must pass testing appropriate for the position.
Salary : $20 - $21
