Description
The Preschool Teacher encourages the exploration of interests and the development of age-appropriate social skills in students. Creates a routine that includes physical activity, playtime, and rest. Fashion lesson plans that reflect the philosophy of the program.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering lessons designated to facilitate student's social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Encourages self-expression through understanding, flexibility, and behavioral reinforcement
- Tending to students' basic needs by feeding, dressing them, and assisting with toilet training
- Mediates conflict between students
- Modeling appropriate behaviors even when not on duty
- Ensuring that the classroom remains safe and conducive to learning at all times
- Liaising with families to gain insight into the student's home environment
- Tracking and informing parents of student's progress, including the building of individual portfolios
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences
- Attend all required faculty meetings, including departmental collaboration
- Complete the required annual professional development
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Able to collaborate with teachers and parents as partners
- Has basic working knowledge of information about SBA Preschool
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Warm and approachable disposition
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom
- Ability to use and operate technical equipment and browser-based applications related to the position

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associate degree in Elementary / Early Childhood Education or the equivalent combination of early education training and experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to crawl, walk, run, stoop, and move quickly
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs
- Must be able to see and hear continuously as well as speak frequently
