So, what does a Silvi Materials Rail Logistics Specialist do? You'll be an integral part of our Top Tier logistics team. In this role, you will:
- You will coordinate train movements to optimize operations and ensure the security of all train movements and other track equipment/employees.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor shipments to ensure timely delivery and optimization of products and assets, managing cases and repairs with providers as necessary.
- Manage car movements to/from storage, diversions, maintenance, overages, claims and other atypical car flows such as bad orders, mis-routes & expedited cars.
- Process rail invoices for all spend categories ensuring timely payment of invoices.
- Ensures inventory levels are maintained at appropriate levels to limit excess while still meeting demand without interruption. Maintain database of contracts, leases, rates, railcar repairs, etc; assist the VP of Logistics with related renewals/negotiations.
- Audit Logistics Invoices to ensure vendor’s billing accuracy, as well as identifying opportunities for cost reduction.
- Ensure effective communications between terminals, sales, customers, carriers, etc, including but not limited to the compiling & distribution of logistics reports.
- Assist internal & external stakeholders with logistics-related requests.
- Deliver rail subject matter expertise
- Support track and trace requests.
- Acquire rail rates and provide to internal customers.
- Point of contact for Rail shipping transaction support on inquiries from plant or customers.
- Work with rail site tools to assist in operational tasks.
- Provide feedback and participate in quarterly fleet reviews.
- Reconcile freight exceptions and process disputes.
- Provide leadership in day-to-day railcar interactions with Product Managers, Commercial leaders, railroads, procurement teams, and Railroad administrators
Qualifications
- Ability to work at 8 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. but has flexibility for outside and overtime hours as needed
- Ability to work at least 1-2 Saturdays per month
- The successful candidate will have at least a High School Education and or equivalent, although a college education is preferred.(Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, and or related)
- This person needs to have excellent and clear communication skills (bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and experience in data entry or order processing.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to speak clearly and professionally.
- Strong listening skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Comfortable with technology and able to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Must be dependable, with a strong commitment to punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends if required.
