What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Infusion Nurse position at SIMEDHealth?
SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for infusions in our Ocala, FL location.
As an LPN, you will be responsible for providing medical care to our patients within the scope of your license and under the direction of a physician or other appropriate medical provider (ARNP/PA-C). The LPN shall help the Physician, Physician Assistant, and Nurse Practitioner in optimizing their clinic day.
Candidates should have the following qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
- Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with valid license to practice in the state of Florida
- Must be computer proficient in typing and various programs
- Ability to work with others as an effective team builder and team player
- Ability to take initiative set priorities, multi task and organize work
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Current CPR/BLS Certification (required)
- Intergy or other electronic health record experience (preferred)
- 3-5 years experience in a medical office/hospital setting (some in women's health required)
Listed below are some of the duties and responsibilities:
- Shall call in medication refills approved by a clinician. As indicated, prior approval will be obtained for these refills by appropriate clinician
- Shall document all prescriptions in Intergy. Will receive approval via physician review for all prescriptions
- Maintain phone contact with patients who call in for advice and information; will dispense medical advice only as indicated by your license and will receive physician approval for all directions. Will document all contact within the EMR.
- Review tasked, verbal or written instructions by a provider in response to diagnostic results.
- Daily telephone correspondence with home health agencies, subacute facilities, other physician’s or medical provider offices and/or hospitals.
- Daily telephone correspondence with case managers, attorney offices, insurance companies, and others
- Assist Medical Assistant and Staff in rooming patients, obtaining patient health histories and taking vitals as needed
- Coordinate and assist Medical Records in looking over schedule of patients to have ready: reports, consults, x-rays, labs, therapy notes, etc as needed
- Scan old charts and/or medical documentation into patient EMR
- Patient education regarding medication, evaluation, treatment plan, follow-up and interview patient
- Assist with procedures (suture removal, dressing changes, etc..) under the direction/instruction of a medical provider and within the scope of your knowledge and license
- Oversee completion of forms for signing by physicians
- The physician, physician assistant, or ARNP will be available for consultation regarding format of letters, appropriate answers to specific questions, etc.
- The job description of the LPN may expand as the LPN's level of experience increases
- Observing patient and staff safety policies & procedures
