Job Description:We are looking for a highly skilled Shop Manager/Production Manager to oversee the operations of our busy mechanic and body shop. The ideal candidate must be able to manage personnel, maintain work logs, and ensure productivity and efficiency. Strong computer skills are essential for this role to handle scheduling, reporting, and operational tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Personnel Management:Supervise and manage a team of mechanics, technicians, and support staff.Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide guidance as needed.Create and maintain employee schedules to ensure smooth workflow.Address personnel issues and resolve conflicts effectively.
2. Operational Oversight:Track work logs and productivity to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.Monitor efficiency metrics and identify areas for improvement.Ensure jobs are completed on time and meet high-quality standards.
3. Scheduling and Work Log Management:Develop and maintain daily and weekly schedules for staff and incoming jobs.Use scheduling software to optimize resource allocation.Keep accurate records of completed work and pending tasks.
4. Customer Interaction:Communicate clearly with customers about job timelines and expectations.Handle customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
5. Inventory and Equipment Management:Monitor inventory levels of parts, tools, and materials.Coordinate orders to ensure timely availability of necessary supplies.
6. Technology Proficiency:Utilize shop management software for scheduling, reporting, and task tracking.Generate and analyze reports to optimize shop performance.
7. Safety and Compliance:Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a mechanic or body shop management role.Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive repair, bodywork, and shop operations.Computer Skills: Proficiency in shop management software (e.g., Mitchell, CCC ONE) and tools like Excel, Google Workspace, or equivalent.
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to resolve issues quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:Familiarity with advanced scheduling and reporting tools.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
