Leads the activities of Dump Drivers and assists with driver training. Operates a semi-truck and trailer combination safely and efficiently to move raw and/or finished product at the SFI Dry and Wet facility property.
ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads Dump Drivers in the completion of their job duties, providing instruction, tools and resources as needed. Ensures all work done is satisfactory and in accordance with company policy. Actively seeks and identifies opportunities to assist others to achieve their objectives and overcome obstacles.
Assists fleet management to manage work assignments and evaluate Dump Driver performance. Provides feedback on workload and capabilities of the team.
Assists with driver training. Trains new hires and administers driving tests to applicants. Mentors new drivers and provides additional guidance on managing the yard.
Operates a semi-truck and end dump, hopper bottom, tanker, or box trailer efficiently to move product to various locations within Simmons facility properties. Dumps correct product in designated locations using either a hydraulic ram trailer or a tipper truck as needed. Maintains levels in the dump bins. Dumps correct product in designated locations. Ensures safety of nearby employees and equipment by following all procedures for proper dumping practices.
Tracks product that has been dropped in order to maintain product freshness. Weighs product and keeps up with all documentation. Washes semi-truck and trailer in wash bay as needed. Secures pre-trip equipment and relocates to the shop as needed.
Sanitize tankers with the wash ball system. Complete all necessary paperwork. Maintain clean and operational equipment. Train new employees as necessary. Relocate trailers as necessary to be loaded with finished products.
Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.

Physical Activities: Ability to work in a wet, noisy, humid, hot, and cold environment that has an unpleasant odor. Ability to properly hook and unhook trailers, including climbing on trucks to hook up hoses or lines, hand cranking trailer dollies, tarp and un tarp trailers with a hank crank up to 30 trailers a shift if necessary. Enter and exit the tractor trailer. Move about the facility and surrounding property.
Equipment: Tractor trailer.
Travel: Some travel between Simmons facilities may be necessary.
Technical Experience: 3 years of driving experience with CDL. Demonstrated ability to lead others, collaborate with fleet management and take initiative. Must pass a company issued driving test. Must have and maintain an up to date CDL driver’s license with Tanker Endorsement or obtain endorsement before employment begins. Must maintain a valid medical card.
