Assessment Consultant (Part-Time, Temporary)

Duration: Spring - December 2025
Expected time commitment: 30-40 hours over the life of the project
Position Overview: Simmons University Center for Information Literacy, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, is seeking a part-time, temporary Assessment Consultant to support the evaluation of the Center’s activities, initiatives and programs. This remote position will focus on assessing the effectiveness and impact of our efforts, providing data-driven insights to enhance our strategies and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing Assessment Plans:
- Develop frameworks to evaluate the Center’s programs, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and appropriate data collection methods.
Data Collection and Analysis:
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection through surveys, interviews, and other methods to assess program outcomes.
Statistical and Qualitative Analysis:
- Use appropriate methods and software to analyze quantitative data and interpret qualitative data to identify trends, themes, and areas for improvement.
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing assessment findings, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement, and providing actionable recommendations.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to gather feedback and ensure alignment of assessment goals with institutional objectives.
Capacity Building:
- Provide guidance on best practices in assessment methodologies and data interpretation to support ongoing evaluation efforts.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, library science, information studies, social sciences).
- Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods.
- Strong analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Experience in project management, particularly in educational or library settings.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks within a remote environment.
- Familiarity with information literacy frameworks and standards is a plus.
