Job Overview:
The College Access Coordinator (CAC) delivers programs and monitors the outcomes of Simon Scholar high school students. This includes delivering content lessons, leading group college tours, managing a discretionary budget, and leading students at our leadership symposium and retreats.
Reporting directly to and working closely with the Assistant Director of College Access, the College Access Coordinator builds meaningful relationships to advance the Simon Scholars mission through a focus on college access and college matriculation.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting Scholars through College Access: Manage a cohort of high school students delivering college access content. Provide individualized guidance and support to help students select and apply to their best-fit 4-year colleges and complete required college and financial aid application processes. Collaborate in program-wide events including but not limited to overnight College Tours, Leadership Symposium,Senior Retreat, etc. Act as a liaison, providing written and verbal communication to high school Simon Scholars to keep them informed of program activities, changes, and requirements.
- Student Recruitment: CACs will participate in recruitment efforts which include outreach activities, applicant essay reviews, and interviewing prospective scholars from our 40 partner schools in Orange County.
- Strengthen Relationships with Scholars, Families, and School Partners: Foster a warm, welcoming, and positive environment for all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents/guardians, and partners. Build and maintain professional relationships with school personnel and community partners.
- Evaluate, Track, and Report on Progress: Maintain detailed student records, data collection, statistics, intervention, and retention metrics through our CRM. Advise, track, and monitor a cohort of high school regarding academic progress, career interest, and developing an academic plan.
- Project Management: Actively contribute to or lead cross-functional teams, assisting with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of key projects and activities that enhance program outcomes.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Passion for working with high school and college students
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds and knowledgeable about the first-generation college student experience
- At least two years of experience demonstrating knowledge of college access and student services programs or in the coordination of leadership activities
- Ability to develop long-term rapport with students, their families, and school counselors/administrators
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Ability to track and report on program measures and outcomes
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Takes initiative and is able to work on multiple projects to effectively meet deadlines
- Flexible hours/evenings/weekends as needed for SSP events
- Reliable transportation to Newport Beach, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Costa Mesa, Orange, Santa Ana, and all other SSP partner locations in Orange County
- Must be physically able to participate with Scholars in activities, guided walking tours, and lift up to 50 pounds
- Should have a working knowledge of Zoom, G Suite (Gmail, Google Hangouts/Meet, Google Classroom), Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM database (Salesforce experience desired)
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or participating in meetings
- Livescan and pre-employment screening clearance
- Bilingual a plus (Spanish and/or Vietnamese preferred)
