What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Maintenance Electrician position at Simon & Schuster?
Simon & Schuster is currently seeking an Electrician to join our Maintenance department at our Distribution Center in Riverside, NJ. This position will install and repair electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by using a wide range of tools and instruments including, but not limited to conduit benders, wire tracers, voltage indicators, and cable cutters.
Responsibilities:
Perform a variety of maintenance tasks, such as electrical preventative maintenance, repair, lock-out/tag-out, disconnecting and removing motors, and responding to emergencies
Troubleshoot and repair 110 through 480-voltage alternating current equipment
Perform pipe bending and installation of electrical conduit, equipment, feeders, branch circuits, motors, and lighting
Install, maintain, test, and repair distribution center/office lighting and electrical equipment
Experience in building Electrical Panels
Obtain measurements and readings using electrical and mechanical testing instruments, including digital multi meters, meggers, amp meters, ohm meters, and phase rotation meters
Wire pulling techniques from manual to mechanical
Maintain records of maintenance and repair work; prepare reports documentation, and correspondence
Read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and/or diagrams
Inspect electrical installations to determine maintenance requirements and procedures
Test and maintain electric motors, variable frequency drives, alarms, and control systems to ensure proper working condition
Participate in electrical safety program and adhere to all safety procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned/required.
Will be asked to help out with mechanical repairs on conveyors.
Requirements:
Work experience as an electrician
PLC (Allen Bradly) experience in troubleshooting
AC/DC Drive experience
Knowledge of the National Electric Code
Fundamental knowledge of electricity and electronics as related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, electronic solid state devices, circuits, wiring, and equipment in industrial stations and distribution centers
Awareness and experience with lock-out/tag-out procedures
Ability to adhere to and observe all applicable safety procedures for working on, or in proximity to, open energized conductors and equipment, including CPR and first aid knowledge
Wire pulling techniques experience (perform techniques from manual to mechanical)
Layout and installation of electrical equipment, panels, and devices
Ability to read, interpret and draw mechanical and electrical schematics
Ability to work well with others and be a strong member of the team, as well as work effectively alone and unassisted
Have knowledge of all tools and protective equipment and their use for work on, or in proximity to, open energized conductors and equipment
Aptitude for analyzing problems and develop effective solutions
SCHEDULED WORK HOURS: Monday – Friday 7 AM – 3:30 PM
