Job Summary
Supports logistics operations by assisting with daily oversight and direction of internal team of drivers to ensure trucking operations targets and deadlines are met; operates commercial vehicles used to transport equipment and materials to internal and external customer sites.
Main Responsibilities :
- Embrace the Company’s safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of truck drivers, providing guidance and support to ensure they meet performance and safety standards; train new drivers in company policies, procedures, and safety protocols, and provide ongoing coaching and development to the team
- Manage internal driver’s and truck’s schedules based on Logistics Supervisor’s schedule requirements
- Conduct daily HASP meetings and weekly safety meetings
- Ensure that all team members adhere to safety regulations, including the proper loading and unloading of cargo, securing loads, and complying with DOT regulations
- Coordinate with operations and customers haul routes and delivery patterns when delivering materials and equipment to internal and external projects
- Collaborate with logistics team to plan optimal routes, schedules, and load assignments, considering factors like traffic, weather conditions, and delivery deadlines
- Perform pre-and post-trip safety inspections on truck to ensure safe operation of vehicles; maintain clean vehicle
- Ensure safe operation of vehicle; document and report required maintenance and / or repair to maintenance team (service department)
- Maintain accurate documentation related to job assignments as required by the Company
- Maintain clear and timely communication with the Logistics Supervisor and other team members to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain driver logs according to state and federal regulations
- Remain up to date on FMSCA and DOT regulations
- Obtain all necessary permits for Simon owned trucks as needed
- Manage Fleetwatcher dispatching and virtual ticketing in Logistics Supervisor’s absence
- Perform other projects and duties related to role as assigned
