WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR :
This role is for the Bidtellect team, an acquired company operating under the Simpli.fi umbrella. We're looking for an engineer with strong object oriented development experience to help drive forward (and eventually take ownership of) our current data pipeline. From a high level, our platform is roughly 75% C#, 25% Scala, this role would be contributing to both. The most important thing is willingness to learn, so if you have a strong background in a programming language like C# (or similar) and are interested in diving into the world of big data, we want to hear from you. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with one or more object oriented development languages (C#, Java, etc), strong experience writing SQL queries, as well as exposure to Kafka and Spark.
Like Simpli.fi, Bidtellect is a DSP (Demand Side Platform). We work with several large ad agencies to deliver their ad content across millions of websites using our own proprietary OpenRtb bidder, with a focus on "native" advertising. We continue to operate as a small, close-knit team, but with all the benefits of being part of a larger company. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to a cross-cutting range of technologies and components, no risk of getting pigeon-holed here. Our roadmap is focused on continuing to grow our technology with an end goal of being a fully integrated offering as part of the larger Simpli.fi ecosystem. In other words, we are focused on doing whatever we can to bring our two platforms closer together (Bidtellect and Simpli.fi), so you'll be at the bleeding edge of some exciting times.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING :
Product Engineering (Focus will likely start here while getting comfortable and unboarded) :
- Design and implement solutions for our various C# applications such as our OpenRtb Bidder, ETL's, Reporting API, and Campaign Management API
- Own the entire feedback loop of output from big jobs that you create by designing and running regular A / B experiments that affect delivery across our customer base.
- Data Pipeline (Ultimately grow into this domain) :
- Maintain and develop new big data jobs using Scala (running Spark), running on top of a Hadoop stack (currently provided by MapR / HPE)
- Become intimately familiar with our bare metal data cluster and homegrown DAG system
- Maintain and develop Kafka consumer applications
- Maintain and monitor our Kafka clusters for health and throughput
- Work with other engineers to plan and design new database tables for reporting
- Get your hands dirty with several different datastores such as Vertica, MS SQL, Aerospike, Hive, and Couchbase

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Simpli.fi, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the base range is $130,000 to $150,000.
