Installation Technician

We are seeking a skilled Installation Technician specializing in concrete coating services (including epoxy flooring) to join our team. In this role, you will apply your expertise in epoxy floor installations to deliver high-quality, durable concrete coatings for our clients. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and has at least two years of hands-on experience with epoxy flooring application. This position requires someone who can work independently or with a crew, follow project plans, and maintain professional standards on every job site. A valid driver’s license, reliable personal transportation, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace are essential for coordinating tasks and documenting project information.

Responsibilities

• Concrete Surface Preparation: Prepare and repair concrete surfaces for coating by cleaning, etching, filling cracks, and grinding floors to ensure proper adhesion of epoxy and other coatings.
• Epoxy Coating Application: Mix and apply epoxy resins, polyurea, or other concrete coating materials according to manufacturer guidelines and project specifications. Ensure even application, proper thickness, and a quality finish on floors in garages, basements, commercial spaces, and other locations.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate hand and power tools (grinders, sanders, shot-blasters, mixers, squeegees, etc.) required for surface preparation and installation. Maintain equipment in good working order and report any issues or repairs needed.
• Project Execution: Work efficiently to meet project timelines and deliver results that meet quality standards. Coordinate with team members to allocate tasks, and adjust to on-site conditions or client needs.
• Documentation & Reporting: Use Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs) to record project details, such as materials used, floor measurements, and daily progress. Complete any required paperwork or digital forms (e.g., job logs, inventory reports, or client sign-offs) accurately and on time.
• Site Cleanup & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work area during and after installations. Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals and equipment. Ensure the job site is left in excellent condition upon project completion.
• Customer Interaction: (If applicable) Interact professionally with clients and/or contractors on-site. Address basic questions or direct customers to the project manager as needed. Provide excellent customer service to ensure client satisfaction with the completed work.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in epoxy flooring installation or concrete coating application. Proven ability to carry out surface preparation and epoxy/urethane coating processes independently.
• Driver’s License & Transportation: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Reliable personal transportation to travel to various job sites (punctuality and dependability in arriving on site are a must).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace (Google Sheets, Docs, Gmail) for project documentation, scheduling, and communication. Comfortable with basic computer tasks such as data entry and email correspondence.
• Work Ethic & Reliability: Strong reliability and work ethic. Must be dependable, punctual, and able to consistently follow through on assignments. A self-motivated individual who takes initiative to get the job done correctly and efficiently.
• Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail to ensure coatings are applied correctly, evenly, and with an excellent finish. Ability to inspect one’s own work for quality and make corrections as needed.
• Physical Ability: Capable of performing physical labor in a construction environment. Ability to lift and carry materials (often 50 lbs), kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods while working on flooring projects.
• Teamwork & Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. Willingness to take direction from project leaders and collaborate with coworkers to achieve project goals. Must be able to communicate any on-site issues or progress updates clearly to the team.
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of basic safety practices related to construction or industrial coating (such as handling chemicals, ventilating work areas, and using PPE). Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is typically required for this role.

Preferred Experience

• Additional Coating Experience: Experience with a variety of concrete coating systems (e.g., polyurea, polyurethane, or polyaspartic coatings) in addition to epoxy is a strong plus.
• Greater Industry Experience: More than two years of experience (3-5 years) in flooring installation, concrete restoration, or a related construction field. Experience working on both residential and commercial projects is beneficial.
• Leadership and Growth: Past experience leading a small crew or acting as a senior technician on job sites is an advantage. A desire and ability to eventually take on a crew leader or project foreman role is a plus.
• Certifications: Any relevant certifications or training (such as OSHA safety certification, epoxy manufacturer training courses, or certifications in concrete polishing and surface prep) will be viewed favorably.
• Other Technical Skills: Familiarity with reading blueprints or project plans related to floor layouts, and experience using project management or scheduling software, can be helpful.

Additional Information

This job is a field-based technician role involving travel to customer sites to install concrete floor coatings. Candidates should be prepared to work in various environments (indoors and outdoors) and weather conditions as needed for surface preparation and coating curing. The typical work schedule is full-time during daytime hours, with occasional extended hours or weekend work when project schedules demand. All necessary tools, materials, and safety equipment will be provided or made available on the job.
