Summary
Works under the direction of the Plant Manager and corporate engineering with a focus on plant / process support, process optimization objectives and departmental research. This position will contribute to the company’s efficiency, profits, growth and environmental compliance, by overseeing the direction of work within the various plant process areas of the Don Plant Facility.
The Process Engineering Manager will lead a technical team responsible for monitoring process operation key performance indicators, driving real time decisions regarding equipment performance and optimization, overseeing and developing process justification for projects geared towards maintenance & reliability, regulatory compliance and growth & productivity. Their duty is also to provide technical direction to the process engineering and various support staff including PSM, the Analytical Laboratory, Process Control Team, Process Technicians and Interns. They will provide guidance, direction and resources in various design projects to satisfy the production and maintenance departments’ needs while maintaining a satisfactory cost-benefit ratio, and complying with safety, environmental and quality standards. This individual is responsible for leading and supervising a technical team as they develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.
The role will also be a Mining & Manufacturing wide resource, working with other facilities and corporate engineering to address technical and compliance issues as they occur. This individual will be a key member of plant leadership team and will help set strategic direction for plant investments, troubleshooting, optimization and compliance efforts. Key accountabilities include advising on plant capital management, supervision of staff, and to be a plant wide resource by working with other engineering, production and maintenance teams to address technical and compliance issues as they occur.

Key Responsibilities
- Confer with higher levels of management and technical resources and leads within M&M
- Review, approve, or modify product designs
- Oversees the development of the department budgets and monitors actual expenses to ensure they fall within budgets
- Presents engineering plans and progress status updates to project stakeholders
- Supervise and lead a technical team comprised of Process Engineers, Process Technicians, PSM Specialists, Analytical Lab and Process Control Personnel
- Ensures the success in meeting respective objectives and goals in a timely manner
- Through the use of performance management hire, train, mentor and develop other engineers and support staff
- Make detailed plans to accomplish group goals
- Oversee the research and development of the new products and procedures in close coordination with corporate engineering resources
- Provides input in the development and implementation of the facility capital plan
- Responsible for assisting with the safe implementation, installation, startup of capital projects
- Responsible for assisting with scope definition and alignment, resource management, budget and schedule management for the numerous capital projects at the plant
- Prioritize and balance workload based on Key Performance Indications, risk assessments and plant needs / priorities.
- Manage key stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure expectations are met
- Ensure the success in meeting both plant and departmental objectives and goals
- Performs process engineering requiring knowledge and application of chemical engineering principles
