About the Role:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to manage both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions for a dynamic and fast-paced creative agency specializing in fashion, art, entertainment, and popular culture. . This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth financial operations of the business, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the finance team with reconciliations, reporting, and general accounting duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (AP):
- Process invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure proper approvals.
- Manage vendor relationships and respond to inquiries.
- Prepare and process payments via checks, ACH, and wire transfers.
- Maintain accurate AP aging reports and reconcile accounts.
- Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Generate and issue client invoices, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Track outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Apply payments and reconcile AR ledger balances.
- Prepare AR aging reports and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- General Accounting & Financial Support:
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
- Support financial audits by preparing necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, preferably in a creative, marketing, or media-related industry.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to liaise with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
