JOB PURPOSE:
The System Technician will work within our fulfillment team, supported by our Sr. System Technician, and will be focused on the production of smart-home systems and devices in order to meet the needs of our customers. The person in this role will have a strong conceptual understanding of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and will primarily support new system builds through assembly, configuration, troubleshooting, refurbishing, and testing of peripheral devices and in-home sensor systems that we sell to our customers. In addition to building new systems, this role will also support the inspection and refurbishment of leased hardware and devices.
The process of building and assembling may require the use of soldering tools, hand tools, power tools; and the use of hands, fingers, and potentially magnification to work with small components.
This is a Full-Time hourly position for 40 hours per week. Pay range starting at $18 per hour. Flexible schedule with work hours between 7:30am - 5:30pm on Monday to Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Program and Configure Firefly Apollo Home Systems
- Assemble, set up, program, configure, and test smart home enabling and assistive technology solutions; including lighting, thermostats, door locks, integrated devices, and/or other technologies according to system design specifications
- Perform System Diagnostics and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to smart home systems, devices, and outcomes, ensuring that systems functionality meet the customer requirements and operate seamlessly
- Maintain Stock Levels of Home System Peripheral Devices and Assemblies
- Ensure adequate supply of pre-built and configured assemblies, that include but are not limited to: Stove sensors, smart buttons, speaker kits, chair/bed pads, tablets, wearables, and/or other equipment
- Support the Hardware Refurbishment Process
- Receive, inspect, clean, refurbish, and test leased items to ensure proper function and reliability to be used in future leased packages
- Collaborate with SimplyHome Team members to Continuously Improve
- Work directly with SimplyHome team members as necessary to ensure customer-centered solutions, provide training, and support usage
- Support the Fulfillment Team, Tech Support Team, and Bench Technician through communication, check-ins, and work to increase efficiencies
- Support Workplace Compliance, Documentation, and Standardization
- Comply with defined work standards and procedures
- Maintain compliance and documentation of IT infrastructure, processes, and troubleshooting steps for reference and future troubleshooting.
- Update and maintain documentation relating to current work practices
- Perform other related duties as appropriate
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED equivalent is required. An Associate's or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
At least 2 years previous experience in a hands-on assembly, networking experience, or working in a technician capacity is required. Previous experience with Linux (non-GUI environments) is a plus.
