Position Summary:
The Maintenance tech performs preventative maintenance and basic repair duties in and around the buildings and grounds of the hospital and clinics. The Maintenance tech understands and prioritizes stat requests and understands correlation to quality patient care and the environment of care. Understands safe use and maintenance protocols for all related maintenance equipment. Understands and responds appropriately to "code" scenarios. May be required to participate in call rotations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance around the building.
- Repair broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures.
- Replace ceiling tiles when requested.
- Fix potential safety hazards to avoid injuries.
- Act as security for emergency situations and facility lockdowns.
- Able to utilize a ladder and comfortable maneuvering on rooftops.
- Assist in directing traffic, building evacuations, and clearing the parking lot as needed.
- Paint walls when old paint has become faded or chipped.
- Move items (cabinets, chairs, tables, etc.) when requested.
- Work on and/or report damaged electrical wires when a shortage or severed wire occurs.
- Keep hospital grounds cut and clean.
- Complete work order forms.
- May be required to participate in call rotations.
- Understand and prioritize stat requests.
- Subject to irregular hours.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment as directed.
- Follow infection control and isolation guidelines.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
The Maintenance Technician must have the ability to move around freely, walk and stand for long periods of time; use stomach and lower back muscles to support the body for long periods without getting tired; use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls; bend or twist their body; understand the speech of another person and speak clearly so listeners can understand; and see details of objects that are less than a few feet away and at a distance. They must also be able to operate machinery, lawn equipment and ladders while being outside for long periods of time.
